The Risky Boot

Just got my Risky edition boots I purchased recently, and let me tell you, I can't be MORE PLEASED with the both the boots and Graphiti artwork!

First off, when you open the box, you can still get a whiff of the spray paint Risk used to paint the inside of the box lid! And then you open your eyes and see this incredible, ORIGINAL, artwork which Risk hand painted with his spray can technique.

You've read the price of a Risk original this size runs $1,000 to $1,500 , so this little puppy is going to get professionally mounted to preserve this artwork for years to come!

(Steve the CEO of Indie Ridge includes a card to show what's art and what isn't (he's got my quirky sense of humor haha), but I'm thinking outside of the box (get it, outside the box) and may try to find a way to frame the entire inside box lid, as there's overspray from Risk's creating the original artwork!

So, now I've opened the lid, and have admired the artwork for like an hour, (maybe it was from the faint paint smell, i dunno) and now time to move onto the boots...HOWEVER, something catches my eye!

Instead of tissue packing paper which normally is around the boots, they're wrapped in actual canvas that Risk used to catch the overspray!

Holy Sh*T, it's like another work of art for free! Gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with it, but may be another framing project!

The boots....man, I said work of art, and that they are!

They have a nice, worn look, like something Arnold would have worn when…

Ive been a huge fan of Risk’s work for a long time but never thought I would spring for one of his pieces because they are so in-demand and thus pretty expensive and difficult to obtain. I was super stoked to see that Indie Ridge came up with such a cool collab like this. I already own Indie Ridge’s gloves and I love them, so this became a huge no-brainer for me. A unique original limited piece by Risk, and a motorcycle boot that I wanted anyways! I’m in!

The packaging is insane - well thought out & super bespoke feeling. On top of that the artwork literally looks like Risk JUST painted it! It’s pretty amazing! You really get the feel that this came straight from Risk’s studio to your living room. The layers of paint are easily visible & you can run your fingers across it and feel the weight of the art (although Im sure I shouldn’t have done that - prob shouldn’t touch it??) All in all pretty awesome package. The boots are amazing - the Crow boot is one that I had my eye on, so the fact that a limited edition version of the Crow boot are the ones included is perfect. They have the comfort and wearability of tennis shoes, but make no mistake: these are fine, thick leather moto-boots. Serious ankle armor and support, perfect soles, and TONS of great padding around the ankle where motorcycle boots often hurt after time on the road. I have ended up wearing these around like everyday fashion boots / tennis shoes. I forget they’re on. Something that doesn’t happen with my other…
