What Makes a GOOD Motorcycle Boot?

If you've ever wondered whether motorcycle-specific boots are worth buying, you're not alone. At least, not in wondering about that.

Q: Can I wear work boots on a motorcycle?
A: No. The construction of a work boot is completely different and serves a completely different function.

A: You absolutely do. Motorcycle boots are made to protect your foot in the event of a crash. That's their sole purpose for existing. Pun.


Q: Are motorcycle boots comfortable?
A: It depends. Usually, but they're not boots you'll mistake for your average tennis shoe. Track boots and ADV boots are the most protective, but they aren't comfortable to wear all day. 

That said, the best gear is the gear you actually wear. That means even on short rides, you want to grab the boots you feel most comfortable but still provide the protective qualities of a good riding boot or shoe.

A motorcycle boot has to protect your foot in a crash, and no two crashes are ever alike. I've heard every crash story you can imagine, and while some accidents are similar, when riders go down, the impact to the foot can come from any direction.

A work boot is not designed for that.
